Commissions

A gold engagement ring with a single stone

Engagement and wedding rings

Your ring, made to commission

A ring made just for you can sound daunting. It does not need to be. We take it slowly, one step at a time, and you see it grow.

What to expect

Unhurried, and made for you

Commissioned rings start from £1,400, with most falling between £2,500 and £4,000 depending on the stone and the metal. Allow six to eight weeks from the first sketch to the finished ring.

How a commission works

Four gentle steps

Nothing is decided in a rush. You can stop and think at any stage.

Two cups set out for a first conversation
1

A conversation over tea

We start by sitting down together, usually over a cup of tea. You tell me about the person, the stone if there is one, and how the ring should feel to wear.

There is no sketch yet and nothing to sign. Just a chance to work out what you are after.

Sketches and a price

I draw a few options by hand and we choose a direction together. Once the design is settled I give you a clear price, with no surprises later.

Stones are chosen at this stage too, so you know exactly what goes into the ring.

A silver test model to hold

Before any gold is cut, I make a model in silver that you can try on and live with for a few days.

It is the moment nerves settle. You hold the shape, feel the width, and we adjust anything that is not quite right.

The making

Then I make the ring in recycled gold at the bench, set the stone, and finish it by hand.

You are welcome to come and see it on the bench along the way. When it is ready, we meet again so you can take it home.

With every commission

What is included

  • A relaxed first conversation, no obligation to go ahead.
  • Hand drawn sketches until the design feels right.
  • A silver test model to try on before any gold is cut.
  • Recycled gold, and Canadian or lab grown stones.
  • Made entirely by hand, here at the bench.
  • A resize within the first year if the fit needs it.

Materials

Recycled gold, kinder stones

I work in recycled gold, and I use Canadian or lab grown stones. It means a ring you can wear without a second thought about where the metal and stones came from.

If you are bringing your own stone, or a stone from a piece you already own, we can work it into the design.
